For some reason, my volume automatically drops to ZERO when i type for 1-5
seconds. I manually turn it back to maximum in the volume control in the task
bar, then continue typing, then it drop down to zero. Very annoying. I've
tried updating sound card drivers, still doesn't work. Any advice?

Leaving aside for now the possibility of malware, it's possible that one
of the keyboard combinations you commonly use while typing has been
mapped - rightly or wrongly - to a control that reduces the volume
somewhere in your system.

Don't think so. I tested by just hitting the A button a few times, and it
shut the volume to zero, then manually turned it up, then hit tht D button a
few times, and it too turned the volume to zero.

Those are likely control buttons for one of your media players. Might be
mapped through your keyboard software.
