Hi,

I am unable to play WMV files in VLC player, but the same files do
play in WMP. I have the latest VLC player and am running WMP 11.

Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this?

Flamer.

Do all .wmv files fail to play or just certain ones?

That is not much information to go on.

I find a few files that play on VLC and not on WMP and visa versa.
I just write it up to life is not perfect! But that's IMHO

No I am only Flamer.

The sound plays, but the video does not play (just black screen).

all other files types that i have tried have played successfully. I
understand that it may be an issue to do with the wmv format and there
is nothing to do about it, but it sounds a fairly common issue and was
wondering if anyone has discovered a fix for it.

Some .WMV files use a different codec, which windows media play
automatically downloads and in some cases prompts to install. VLC won't try
to do this.

VLC plays my WMV files fine.

Is the WMV file from the internet , if so what location?

regards,

Malcolm.
