Visual Studio .NET installation problem (can't uninstall old installation)

K

Kris Popendorf

I'm trying to get visual studio installed, but
unfortunately it says I need to uninstall the previous
version. It's impossible to actually run any uninstall
script or anything from the old installation because the
hard drive array it was on suffered a massive failure and
there's nothing left of it.
Nothing left, except the registry entries which I assume
is what's confusing this installaiton....
Anyone have any ideas??? I really don't want to have to
do a blank windows installation just so I can get visual
studio back...
I've already tried going through the registry and
deleting keys that say "Visual Studio" or have one of the
CLSIDs listed in the setup.ini as [PrevProductIds], but
no luck... =(

If anyone can help, I'd be grateful.

Did you try doing the repair, rather than the install? Also, what about
going in and deleting the registry keys under,
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Visual Studio\7.0 , THat might work?
