visual studio licensing

We are some 3-5 developers here 'informally' using visual basic 6. So
if I want to formalize this and start using visual basic .net, how does
licensing work? Do we have to buy 5 visual studio .net "Enterprise
Developer" ?
Also, we only had one box of visual studio .6 so can we use the
'version upgrade' prices?

You don't need to buy "Enterprise" if "Professional" has all of the features
you need and, since you say you only own one VS6 license (which, you state
is illegally installed on 5 developers' PCs) you'd be eligible for exactly
one upgrade discount. All other licenses would be full price.

Don't forget, though, that if you just want Visual Basic, you can go out and
buy Visual Basic 2003.

$109 US list price, you might be able to find it cheaper at Amazon or your
local reseller.
With this IDE, you cannot develop in C#, and you miss some other stuff. But
maybe it's what you want.

Cool that works better I think ($-wise). We only program in Visual
Basic and in ASP to build ASP web pages, also use SourceSafe to control
versions and such. So maybe we could buy 5 VB 2003, but about
sourcesafe... will we need 1 or 5? since the 'server' will be one of
the computers, the other ones will just access it as clients checking
things in and out...
