visual studio install

just installed visual studio.net 2003, upgrade for version 2002, install was
ok, but when i launch it for first time, its asking for a valid product key,
but never gives a prompt to enter, it gives a preparing to install window,
then it just it just quits???
it never asked for the 2002 cd in the very long install process, it only
asks for the 2003 product key at the start
this was the only forum that even comes close to a visual studio group that
i can find in ms news, if there is another that is more appropriate please
let me know

I've seen issues similar to yours, but it was a long time ago and I'm sorry
to say I don't remember any possible fixes. Here are a couple of groups
better suited to your question:

microsoft.public.vsnet.ide
microsoft.public.vsnet.setup

You also might try a search in Google Groups, which archives
microsoft.public.* articles.
