VistaRC1 ISO download disappears

First of all, I would have posted this as a question but pptredirect.aspx
simply pops up and makes clicking noises in my browser. Here is my problem
though. I downloaded RC1 to the Documents folder using the Akamai
downloader. The download finished and verified the download, but I go to the
Documents folder and there is no vistayadayadayda.iso file. I even run a
search and nothing comes up. I list the directory in the command prompt, no
iso file. However, if I go back to download the file again using the Akamai
downloader and the Save As dialog box pops up and I choose Save In:
Documents, the vista.iso file is listed in Documents. If I click save it
asks me if I'm sure I want to overwrite the file.

This is a symptom of Vista and/or IE7 "sandboxing" a download file that may
be suspect. Search the newsgroup for several different threads discussing
this issue and also solving where the file is located.

Hi,
Here's what I tell everyone;
#1 Akami seems to be giving some folks grief. And on the download page for
rc1-you'll see;on the right side, the same links.
But;they are under a header; that says; Use your own browser/download
manager.
That's exactly what you want to do.
First; don't use your browser; get a download manager;and install it.-- I
chose free download manager;it's free; and it.s here :
www.freedownloadmanager.org
then, choose your version under that header; the download manager you
have installed-- see above--lol;
will grab it. And depending on what one you use; you can adjust the speed.
If you pick the one above;in the options;at the top;you'll see;
optimization.
Open it;and set it to your download speed;default is 512kbs- I chose t1 and
was averaging 775kbs.
It won't disappear; either-lol

Hi,

Mine also disappeared using the recommended download manager but I did get a
dialog box saying the MD5 hash didn't check after the download finished. I
then used GetRight and it worked fine. I'd like to say more but I'll contain
myself.
