I don't recall "stuffing around for hours trying to get vista to work," must
have missed that step. It worked anyway though so I'm happy. That was both
on an upgrade of Vista to my old XP box and an OEM installation on my new
computer. Actually the new computer did take some configuration steps, but
that was because I needed to reload my software, migrate my files, and delete
the bloatware (this quickest of the steps). Overall, I completed setting up
the new system in less then two hours.
The only stuffing around I did was when I installed Vista. Even that was
pretty quick. After that went the laptop drivers, utilities, etc. Then came
the updates. Overall, finished in 2 hours. Vista worked fine, I didn't try to
make it work, it just did. If you hate Vista, then fine, go to XP. Get
yourself a Mac if you want. But for the people who didn't have a problem with
Vista, you're a far cry.
