Carey,

I cannot post a question to this group, only reply to questions. Can you
help me?

Thanks,

Peter

Hi,

It's called a format, and that is not always sufficient. To run both XP and
Vista requires at least two volumes, whether that be a drive that is split
or two drives. Vista is removed by booting the install disk for XP and
deleting the existing install partition, then creating a new one for XP as
part of the initial setup.

thank you for your response that eases my mind I have ordered a xp sp2. not a
download. I do have one more question for you if I don't respond to the
activation for vista what will happen will it just stop running vista. or
will it just shut down my computer. I have 7 days I don't want to activate. I
did not know that there was no add remove program in vista.

Hi JoAnne,

If you do not activate, Vista will go into a limited use mode until you do.
You can temporarily extend the activation period, just enter "slmgr -rearm"
at an elevated command prompt. To get one, click start and type CMD, then
right click the entry in the start menu and select 'run as administrator'.
