Can running disk clean-up in windows Vista make it crash?

According to a Dell tech support person, they claim this is what crashed my
customers Vista operating system!
(I never heard of this before, so need to know if this is an issue with
Vista)?

I have setup 100's of windows Vista computers, all suggesting they run disk
clean-up once a week, and no one else has complained that they had this
issue, or that it crashed there computer, so my question is "Can running disk
clean-up in windows Vista make it crash?"

Thanks in advance,
Keith

I have yet to see a computer running Windows Vista
having a crash episode while running a disk cleanup.
However, if a hard drive is experiencing a mechanical
failure, anything can happen unexpectedly.

If you do a search on that, you'll see that it's not unheard of but from
what I can tell the real culprit ends up being a 3rd party software, driver
or hardware.

They may have been thinking of 'chkdsk', whose 'black-box' activity is more
likely to cause issues.
