Vista won't install older driver!

I updated my LAN adapter with new driver from manufacturer. Four days later
something went wrong and I had to try to revert to older driver but it was
gone for some reason. Even my older restore setting are gone. The only
restore I see is 4 for that day. I tried to get older driver from mfg site
and when I try to install, Vista says current is the best and won't use old.
I tried deleting drivers from system dir, but vista says I need permission
to delete those files... even though I'm the administrator. I tried turning
of DEP, but still won't let me delete unwanted driver files. I tried
uninstalling lan hardware from device manager and cheking to uninstall
driver software, but still the same when I try reinstalling older driver.

How can I install older drivers to get LAN back up? I'm lost.

See if there's an entry in "Uninstall or change a program" (via Control
Panel) for your newer drivers and if so uninstall them.

You can go to Device Manager for the device, Properties, and check to see if
the Rollback button is enabled. Or you can choose Update Driver where you
tell it to choose available drivers for the device that are already on the
computer and roll back.
