Vista with NVIDIA card slowest

When I decided to buy this new PC -see below- with a NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS
graphic card, I assumed that it would be a fast sys for graphics. But
regardless of the time of day, when I visit the Vista Forum at
http://thevistaforums.com/index.php?showforum=54
I have to wait for over 400 seconds for the graphics to load. This is the
most time but other sites with light to medium graphic contents takes a long
time to download all its graphics.
If the problem is caused by the NVIDIA card, my problem would be that HP in
its wisdom, installed a 300w power supply and if I change the graphic card to
a more powerful one, I will probably need to change it to a 500w supply.
I tried to fine tune my settings to improve the system but to no avail.
I only use ZoneAlarm as firewall and BitDefender 2008 as antivirus. When I
had the XP system, I was usisng the same software but it never crawled like
the Vista system is crawling.
Any suggestions about fine tuning or the impact of the current graphic card
in loading graphics?
By the way, when running applications, the system is very fast.

I have only a puny 5200fx and everything loaded in like 3 o 4
seconds.

It's not your card.

It looks to me from the description that you have a network download
problem, not a graphics card problem.

The website is slow compared to some, but what you are describing sounds
very much like a network problem and nothing to do with the graphics card.

You could try using Firefox instead of IE and see if that improves
anything - it is not invasive so works as a good comparison to see if
there are issues with IE. Also there may be updated network drivers for
your machine, have you checked that possibility?

It could also be just your internet connection, and nothing to do with
your machine at all... can you hook up another machine to compare speeds?
