Vista windows blinking Explorer problems

After some windows update the windows now blink, throb. After some point you
cannot even type in a windows the throbing takes over and blanks out what you
have typed. I can not even click on the Start -->All programs --> some
program group because the window flashes. The video driver is a NVIDIA from
8/07, on a Sony Viao T5450. The problem gets progressively worse as you use
the machine.
I tried Norton and CCleaner scans so far.
Thank you

(by the way what order are the disscussion groups in?)

It sounds like you installed a video driver from Windows Update, which is
not a Good Thing. Roll it back. If rolling it back doesn't help, uninstall
the driver and reinstall it. Get the latest drivers from Sony.

If that solves the problem, change your Update settings from Automatic to
"download and notify me" so you can see what you are installing. Don't
install drivers from Windows Update.

If that doesn't solve the problem and you are really sure that things were
perfect before you installed an Update, uninstall the Updates (or do a
System Restore to before you installed them) and then only install them one
at a time, testing after each install.
