Vista & Western Digital

I just got a new 500gb Western Digital USB drive. I have attached it to my
machine, on the back, and it will not show up under My Computer. I tried the
infcache.1 fix, nothing. I deleted it under the Device Manager and allowed
it to reinstall. The installation program runs but nothing shows up. It
says the device is installed properly. Why can't I see it? I can see it
fine on my Windows XP laptop. Western Digital and Microsoft both say that it
should work. Help. I even tried to run the TweakUI program but it would run
on Vista. The Western Digital Diagnostics doesn't recognize the drive is
there. Why does it appear under Device Manager but nowhere else?

Have you partitioned, formatted and assigned a drive letter(s) in Disk
Management?

Use Vista's Help and Support for information on how to do this (very well
documented and easy to use).

Hi,
That must be surely happen because Vista has not yet assigned a letter to it
or it is not formatted.
Try this:
Right-click on the "Computer" icon on your desktop and select "Manage".
Select disk mananagement on the left pane.
Right-click (right pane) on your new drive and partition/format/assign a
letter to it.
