Vista upgrades

I bought the Vista Home Premium upgrade about 6 weeks ago. I then purchased
(Online) an upgrade to Ultimate. I have Ultimate on my computer at home and
thought I could load Home Premium on my laptop since I bought both upgrades.
When I tried to activate the Home Premium it told me the product key was
already active and I needed another key. I assumed (Wrongly?) that since I
bought them separately I could use both products. Am I wrong? If so I guess
I'll have to uninstall Home Premium but I was hoping for a way to use both
products.

Any help out there?

Hi,

The Ultimate upgrade subsumes the license of the OS that was upgraded. In
this case, that is the Home Premium license. If you purchased through
Anytime Upgrade, you should be aware that these are not full upgrade
licenses, but rather a license to upgrade a version of Vista that you
already own. Once subsumed, the license for the upgraded product becomes
part of the upgrade. If, however, the Ultimate was a full upgrade, then you
should be able to reuse the Home Premium license, but you will need to phone
in the activation to reset it as it was previously activated.
