vista upgrade

I started installing Vista yesterday around 2:00 P.M. - It is still
installing at 10:00AM today. Is this normal?

Mine couldn't restart the desktop computer when it wanted to reboot. I had
to hold the power button in for about 5 seconds in order to get it to shut
down. The laptop did ok.

A direct install takes about 40 min. An upgrade over XP takes a lot longer,
several hours is not unheard of; but your situation is not typical or
normal. Do a search on how to use the upgrade version to do a fresh load of
vista. It is legal under the license if you own a copy of XP not installed
on another computer.

So does a VISTA upgrade over a different VISTA -- I recently did
Ultimate on top of Business using a Full Ultimate not an Upgrade and it
took about 3 hours compared with 40 minutes for the original clean
installation of Business.
