Vista "Upgrade was not Succesfull"

Vista Advisor shows no issues, Vista upgrade shows Nvida card will need a
driver after installation. Upgrade says installation should not be a problem.
WHY OH WHY OH WHY does the installation finish after 3 Hours showing the
"Upgrade was not succesfull" and revert back to the previous version. Is
there no way of finding out what the issue is? Is there not an upgrade log
created?

Running Windows Media centre upgrading to Vista Home Premium.
Should I be waiting for MS to sort there bug riddled software out and buy
the 2007 Windows version after 3 -4 years.

Sometimes a clean Installation is the best solution if for some reason
there are problems during an upgrade.

It is probable there is software or hardware that vista has a problem
with that is not initially identified.
This is more common with anti virus and other malware monitoring
tools.
Uninstall, not just disable these tools.
Disconnect all unnecessary peripherals such as camera, scanner,
printer, card readers etc, anything not immediately necessary during
the upgrade.

Upgrades take significantly longer so your time is not unreasonable.

Thanks Jupiter Jones,
Yeah unfortunatly a clean install is out of the question and as with most
software manafactures it seems that Upgrade means re-install, I have the same
problem when ever upgrading Norton.

Looks Like VISTA then will never be an installation option untill I wreck
the hard drive and need to rebuild it.

CHeers.
