Vista Ultimate volume license?

Will there be a Windows Vista Ultimate volume license edition?
The enterprise edition doesn't include all the features that we want, so we
will need the ultimate edition.

Thanks for any response,

My understanding is that only the Enterprise and Business editions are
available to Volume licence holders.

As far as I am aware there will not be a VL version of Ultimate at
this time.

The only significant difference between Enterprise Edition and
Ultimate is the inclusion of Media Center and Xbox 360 integration.
Do you currently volume license Media Center Edition ?
If so I am curious as to what the company does that requires Media
Center functionality on such a significant number of desktops?
Just what functionality is missing for you from Enterprise?

According to Microsoft Marketing, customers who are eligible for upgrading
from Business to Enterprise may opt for Ultimate instead. They retain all
of the value-added perks of Enterprise when they do so. You must use the
upgrade method available from your volume license administrator and not the
consumer Anytime Upgrade. (This info was provided to me from MS Marketing
indirectly through my MVP lead several months ago.)

Mike, they can opt for Ultimate. There is a procedure in place to do so and
a guarantee of retained value.

There is not, and will not be a Volume License edition of Vista Ultimate.
As mentioned previously, the only real differences between Enterprise and
Ultimate is Media Center as well as XBOX 360 extender support. So unless
you need those two features for whatever reason, then Enterprise should work
just fine for your company.

Lots of businesses manage all sorts of media files for all sorts of reasons,
such as training sessions, etc.

We want to use the media center on media portals, so we need the media center
option. I hope there will be an volume license edition.

Hello
Correct. They can opt for Ultimate however Windows Ulitmate doesn't exist
as a Volume sku.
They would have to use retail activation to activate these machines
Thanks,

Thanks for the clarification. I misunderstood a reply I got through Ben
Armstrong.
