Hi, if you go to Start and then select control panel, on the left hand side
of the screen choose classic view, and then select regional and language
options you will be able to change the language settings from there.

Hope this helps you out.

Hi again, although this will change certain elements of the language settings
you may need to buy the full italian version of windows vista.

You won't be able to change the language of the toolbars etc. If you have an
English version then the toolbars will be in English regardless of what you
chnage the language to in control panel. If you want Italian language
toolbars you will need to buy an italian version of Vista

As far as i know downloading the language packs from ultimate extras still
isn't going to change the language that the toolbars are displayed in. The
copy of Vista you install has to be in your required language.

Have a look at the following Microsoft pages on language changing:

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/4a90fe71-cca6-4965-ab39-
97f92ca1a03f1033.mspx

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/35a1b021-d96c-49a5-8d8f-
5e9d64ab5ecc1033.mspx

and most important:

http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista/en/library/cfb72225-d7fd-46b0-
9316-81769ec909791033.mspx?mfr=true

This last reference gives all the language packs and whether they are full
packs or partial ones that have to be installed on top of a particular other
language version.

Italian is a full language pack and can be installed according to what they
say on top of your English version.

By contrast Hungarian is a partial language pack and requires you to have
English US (EN-US) installed.

Hope that helps. It's not something I've done myself yet since I'm still
waiting for my copy of Ultimate.

Note that I've seen reports of error messages coming up in the wrong language
and that applications only change language in this way if they were
specifically written to use the VISTA MUI langugage system.

Finally I've bought an localized version of Vista in italian; for some
information I've download from Windows Update the Language pack for French
and English and finally all toolbar, menus, tips, messages etc, are switched
in the language specified into the control panel.

CI and Mlai, it looks as if i owe you an apology for giving you the wrong
information. Having checked the Ultimate Extras updates, of which there are
currently 15 languages available for download, I have since found out for
myself that, by downloading the relevant language and installing it, it
'will' in fact alter the display/toolabrs etc so they are displayed in the
appropriate language.

My apologies for misleading you. I should just point out to other readers,
however, that the language packs discussed here are only available for Vista
Ultimate and Enterprise editions (Well that's according to the Vista product
Guide, anyway.)
