Vista Ultimate Complete Backup/Restore Question

I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 that has its old MediaDirect partition.
Completely forgot to remove it when I installed Vista. And its at the
beginning of the drive :[.

What I want to know is if doing a complete back up and restore will
repartition my drive to the same setup as when I backed it up, or if I can
restore to one partition without having to worry about the MediaDirect
partition popping up again.

I think it might depend on how that Media Direct partition is flagged. When
you run Complete PC Backup, is this partition selected by default (and
unselectable?) If so, then I would assume this partition will be added back
during restore. On the other hand, you can use wbadmin.exe, the command-line
equivalent to Complete PC Backup, to back up individual partitions.
