Vista Ult. Installation on top of Vista RC1

I have Vista RC1 neatly set up on its own hard drive (my workstation has 4
HD's) & I have a new TechNet supplied disc w/ Vista Ultimate. Do I really
have to lose all my settings and special apps by reformatting (wiping) the
HD, or is Vista Ult. smart enough to install over the existing RC1 so I can
retain my custom settings, etc.? Can I just "Repair" the RC1 and enter my
PID that I have from my TechNet subscription?

Yes, you can do an upgrade from RC1 using a full edition of Vista Ultimate.
That is the only way to upgrade RC1.

Hi Barry:
Thanks for asking. It is the 32-bit (X86) version of Vista Ultimate.

What RC1 version (32 bit or 64 bit)??
Thank you for asking/replying: it is the 32-bit (X86) version of Vista
Ultimate from Tech Net Plus subscription--what do you know about installing
it atop my RC1 Vista Ultimate and being able to retain all files and
settings?

Yes you can use a x86 Ultimate full version, which the one from TechNet is,
to do an in place upgrade from x86 RC1 to x86 Vista Ultimate.
