You don't have anything intellignt to say ?

Suprise, suprise.

All Francis can ever do is quote things I've said to him in the past and
make it sound like he's had an original thought. He self-projects all his
inadequacies on others. He's one very sick puppy.

Cheers.

None-the-less, it is part of 'Everything'.

Ergo, Vista is not better at 'Everything'.

It may be worthless to you, but not to everyone. I had thought the same,
but you know what, it was because it never seemed to work right. I always
turned off fading menu's, and min/max animations. The main reason was the
time factor it took to fade in/out the menu, to min and max windows. I've
got those set to 200ms duration. The 'burn' animation is wicked.

Here's another thing that I like, with Windows, a maximized window is a
maximized window, it can't be moved. You have to 'Restore' it to move it.
Under Ubuntu/Compiz, you can just grab a maxed window's titlebar and move
it. That's a pretty neat animation also, the window frame sort of
'sticks' to the sides of the screen up to a certain point, and then it
breaks away, and springs back to shape.

I'm not saying that it will happen, but I can see MS buying Compiz and
porting it to Windows, because after all, that is what they do right, buy
s/w rights to things that they have failed to do well themselves ?

The Vista desktop widget things are worthless in my opinion.

Folder browser panes that auto-horizontal scroll are worthless if not
downright annoying.

There's more worthless 'features' as well. Shall I go on ?

This is untrue ? No.

I've never had a problem with any OS I've run. Looking at the advice
here, that STILL seems to be one of the first things to do when you are
having problems with Vista.

And those things will be passed off as JUST eye candy.... Not true. Several
features of Compiz help speed up productivity. Surely I do like eye candy,
and those that poo poo it are grasping at straws to put that sort of thing
down, BUT, what I do like the most about some features in Compiz, is how my
productivity goes up using them. ALT+Tab and Flip 3D are slow compared to
what I can do with Scale in Compiz for one example. Just set hot corners for
a couple things and fly.

Anyway, what I like about my Vista Ultimate install is it doesn't look like
Fisher Price XP! Had enough of the XP look staring at it for all those
years! LOL ...But I was impressed with Search and the Aero bit, well at
first. I rarely if ever use the Flip 3D bit, but like the rest of the looks.
UAC doesn't bother me as I have had everything set up for over a year, so
don't get bothered with it much. On a dual boot with XP, I rarely boot to XP
anymore. I have been lucky and not had any of the problems I constantly read
about here. (Knock on wood! LOL ..Cuz one needs to with Winders!)

Cheers
