VISTA too slow

I am using Vista on a fast dual processor computer with 2GB internal memmory,
but all programs are extremely slow. I did do the defragmentation and
registry cleaner and removed as many resident programs as I could, but I can
not work like this. I hear many such complains about Vista. How to solve. or
re-install XP ?

you have something else going on there, guy. I've got a toshiba laptop
that isnt the fastest thing in the world, and vista runs fine. it loads
excel in 1.5 seconds. it's snappy in other apps too. start up is a bit
slow, at around 1:25.

my laptop is a T5500 with 2GB of mem. Even my wife's T5300 with 1 GB of
ram is tolerable, but it is noticeably slower at everything. certainly
i wouldnt say it is "extremely" slow.

Your lappie is a tad faster than mine... which is a coreduo 2350 with 2 gig.
Have you set yours to run at max performance in power management?

Also turning off unused features and services can add quit a bit of speed.

ive had mine run at various speed percentages, but have never seen any
tangible difference in performance. when i first got the laptop it was
set for a ridiculous 5% on battery. I changed that to 50% min.
processor state. Apparently the drive speed makes more difference to
the "feel" of speed then the processor settings? No matter how i
customize the power settings (advanced settings), the speed always feels
the same. Maybe if i loaded up CS2 and ran a filter on a large image
I'd see more evidence of processing speed differences.

registry cleaner damages your Windows
ah, I've run Auslogics registry defragger with no ill effects. perhaps
it doesn't have the same functionality as the other "cleaners".

Maybe because mine is slower, especially in graphics, I can easily tell
the different between using the 3 power performance settings.

This may not be your cup of tea, so to speak, but I recenlty purchased an
Acer. It was loaded with junk 2nd and 3rd party software that had its
tentacles hooked in all over the place. Slow boot, sluggish performance. So
I downloaded the hardware drivers appropriate to my laptop from the Acer
website and burned them to disc .. then wiped the drive and installed a
*generic* copy of Windows Vista (plain ol' vanilla Microsoft Windows - not
the recovery version nor the Acer version). Vista picked up most of the
hardware on installation, so most of the drivers I downloaded I didn't have
to use. Boots to a full settled desktop in 50-53 seconds [includes logging
in with a password]. And the performance is nice.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE TWO LAPTOPS. ONE OF THEM IS OLD 1.6 WITH XP
AND THE SECOND IS THE NEW, A HIGH SPEED PROCESSOR AND 2 GIG RAM BUT IT HAS
VISTA. I SHOULD SAY THAT I AM MORE SATISFIED WITH WORKING MY OLD LAPTOP.

VISTA IS VERY SLOW AND HAS MANY ERRORS. I REALLY SICK OF USING VISTA. I
DON'T KNOW WHY A BIG COMPANY LIKE MICROSOFT DOES NOT HAVE ANY REACTION FOR
IMPROVING VISTA.

I DID SPEND A LOT OF TIME TO FIND ANY SOLUTION FOR IMPROVEMENT. BUT I REALLY
DIDN'T FIND. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU NOT USE VISTA. PLEASE DONT SPEND YOUR
TIME. THE QUALITY OF VISTA IS TOO LOW.

THE ONLY ADVANTAGE OF VISTA IS ITS NEW INTERFACE.

I HOPE AT LEAST A SOFTWARE ENGINEER FROM MICROSOFT READ MY COMMENTS AND
PERSUADE HIS/HER COMPANY FOR URGENT VISTA IMPROVEMENT.

IT IS GOOD TO RESPECT A MILLION MILLION PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD WHO ARE
WORKING WITH THEIR SOFTWARES.

THANKS AND REGARDS
