hi there

my pc starts normally and when it gets to that green progress bar it takes
up to 2 hours to load and get into windows. recently i installed windows on a
150gb raptor and in the beginning it was ok and then i decided to install the
microsoft updates

and thats when the problems started

i tried loading in safe mode it takes way too long as well

after im in the aero is disabled and when i install for example even a small
..exe e.g. adobe reader it takes a long time doing nothing and then suddently
begins installing and finishes

my computer:
skintek internal card reader
avermedia pci tv card
x-fi fatality sound card
150gb raptor sata (windows vista ultimate x64)
500gb sata
an older smaller raptor hard disk
about 3tb external drives
nvidia 8500gt
ati radeon 800gto (secondary monitor)
blu ray driver sata
dvdr driver sata
8gb of ram ddr2
motherboard is asus p5b deluxe

everything is updated apart from the motherboard everything was ok untill
the updates

all the devices work well
my home network is ok

device manager tells me there are no conflicts is there another way to check
for conflicts? i think though that this is a software problem because untill
the updates everything was ok the only thing i can think of that i did wrong
is that installed all the updates together and at the same time my sound
card....

can anyone help please?

Curious

My Vista HP 32 bit SP1 boots and has my new email from the internet in
about 45 seconds. Your system should probably be rebuilt from scratch.

If everything really was fine until you did the updates, uninstall those
recent updates and test. Go to Programs & Features and tick the box to show
updates.

Since you sort of mentioned your sound card (although without any real
details), perhaps you installed drivers as part of the updates and this is
causing your issue. There will be no way to know unless you uninstall
whatever you installed.
