Haven't you heard?
"Later this month, the service pack will be made available to MSDN and
TechNet Plus subscribers".

OK, so "Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista [released] to manufacturing" see:

Before you get too excited, note that: "In mid-March, we will release
Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Update". So the bottom line is, we have to
wait
another month.

Come on guys, you let us download the beta, why not the RTM?

The release is staggered to allow for any additional feedback firstly from
the technical beta testers and dev partners on the closed programs, then the
system builds, then MSDN/TechNet subscribers and finally the general public
release.

If your system is OK now and fully patched then the changes and updates in
SP1 will have little significant impact on you so there is no rush.
Or do you have a specific issue that is fixed in SP1 and was not available
as a general hotfix or a support available one? or require a particular new
feature ?

I personally can wait another month. I want the problems ironed out before
it is release.
I read that MS is contacting drive manufacturors about upgrading the
drivers. (I hope Sigmatel is one of them. I had problems with
the MIDI portion. Other than that, SP RC1 worked great.) And please avoid
downloading the socalled RTMs from thepriratebay.org
they are not official and problably have malware slipped-streamed into them.
They are pirates, and have tons of viruses flow throw the torrents.

My laptop seems much more stable with the beta, but I'd like to get the
RTM
on it ASAP.

My desktop definitely is more stable withSP1RCX1 beta.2

I have a question about Vista SP1. I have read that some computers will not
be able to get it due to a drive conflict. Will SP1 not inform the user of
the needed driver update or in fact get the required driver to continue the
installation once the download is completed? I know this may seem like a
dumb question, but I am confused by this. I figure as many figure that the
SP1 will have everything we need to previous updates to Vista will have the
correct items so ALL can download and install this major change. Thanks for
your time in listening and replying.

Cheers

This is so annoying.....

I've got a really annoying bug in mine WITHOUT SP1 (I count as general
public). Basically the network has shut down as far as my comp is concerned.
I get internet but I can't see the network and the network can't see me. The
"connect to wireless network" window takes minutes to open and i can't access
the "network and sharing center" at all. I've made a resolution to reinstall
windows because i think that'll fix the problem (if that doesn't, what will,
right?), but I've made a new resolution to wait to see if SP1 fixes it before
i go ahead with all the trouble of reinstalling. The fabled stability (in
Vista? now way!) sounds great. personally i want it to be as stable as
possible before it reaches the general public (although Microsoft could be a
little more realistic with their release dates. I mean, come on - SP1 was to
be released in November. It's been 5 months. (although, with Vista's trend,
that's not bad. lol)

Without knowing more about your network it's hard to see what the problem
is. But yourgroup name name on your computer has to be the EXACT same name
as the one on your network or else they will not see each other. It took
quite a few tries to finally get my two home computers hooked up (one had XP
and one had Vista at the time). So I'm assuming you are talking about a
home network and not a buisness network...
