Vista SP1 and IE

We are thinking of purchasing notebook which has Vista installed. However, we
notice it does not have MS Works installed, which we need.
When we looked around for MS Works 8.5 on eBay, we notice that it comes with
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1. Since Vista comes with IE 7 installed,
will loading MS Works 8.5 with IE 6.0 SP1 cause any problems?
Can we NOT allow IE 6.0 SP1 to install if/when we install the MS Words 8.5?
Any suggestions or explanations appreciated.

You might like to consider Open Office instead of Works - a) it's free and
b) is compatible with MS Office 2003 and prior...

Don't purchase software on eBay. It has been found that
over 50% of Microsoft software sold on auction web sites
is counterfeit. Purchase software only from a known reliable
source.

Another glaring example of the idiot Frisch running his mouth and not
having a clue what he's blabbering about.

While it is true some counterfeit software is being sold on eBay,
that's true of countless other web sites as well. The funny thing is
of course this idiot offers not even a shred of proof whatsoever to
back up his moronic claim and pulls the bloated "over 50% of Microsoft
software sold on auction web sites is counterfeit" out of his REALLY
stupid ass.

There are many legitimate dealers on EBay and elsewhere. As always,
buyer beware, but that applies to ANY purchase online or off. If the
price seems too good, then it probably is.

You Carey with your none stop pandering and kissing up to Microsoft
have been found to be a total idiot. Soon, you'll been seen as a
bigger fool than Frank.

51% of software on auction sites is counterfeit, study reveals:
http://w3.bsa.org/southafrica/press/newsreleases/sapressrelease3jan2007.cfm

Give it a rest fool, the article cites some UNNAMED auction site in an
UNNAMED study by some group named IDC which also wasn't revealed
either. In other words totally unfounded and likely bogus bullshit
that kiss ups love to quote.

If you like that kind of "factual" reporting then you should be happy
to learn a study by DFG found in a unnamed study that 99% of MVP's are
butt kissers.

You can still get MS Works at retail outlets so no need to resort to auction
sites.

Works 8.5 will run in Vista, I have it here (web upgraded Works 8.0). I
think you'll find that IE6 is an optional install, but as others have said
Windows won't allow it to downgrade IE7 so it shouldn't be a problem.

OpenOffice, which I also use, is a nice suite but it is more an alternative
for MS Office. OpenOffice is not compatible with Works format documents so
it cannot be used as a replacement for Works unless you convert all of your
existing Works documents into a format common to both programs.

Give it a rest fool. Some UNNAMED idiot (Adam Albright) spews statistics
that are totally unfounded and bogus bullshit that tries to make himself
look like he knows what he is talking about but DOESN'T. Oh yea, that is
Just FYI.

You mean like your hero Carey Frisch does?

I guess my humor is beyond your pea sized brain's ability to digest.
You know Bill, you can avoid looking like a damn fool if you first
read what you're commenting on.
