vista service pack 1 wave1 is out

I believe it's still in beta.

And no, I am not; I have already installed it and it worked fine on my test
machines. :-)
 
If you still see that evaluation tag on the desktop and it still goes wrong,
that means its obligated to go wrong.

I'll guess that you have no experience testing this, or the predecessors to
the public release candidate.
It installed without issue and is running fine on two test machines here.
YMMV.
*However*, for those interested, there is one important caveat:

You will not be able to update from the RC to the final version. You will
have to uninstall the RC, then install the final.
