Vista Service Pack 1 Experience

Stephen Saw

Hi,

After installed Vista Service Pack 1 on my machine, the Windows Experience
Index that let us rate our system did not appear on the place where it should
be, is that in SP1 it has been moved to other location or just simply
removed?

Thanks and regards,
Stephen Saw

Problem is, Mark, slipstreaming SP1 to Vista isn't an easy task, especially
for the less knowledgeable user. I agree it can be done but, as far as I
know, the only method currently available is physically installing another
copy of Vista onto a separate partition, integrating SP1 then converting to
ISO before burning to DVD. None of the current slipstreaming software, again
as far as I know, can cope with slipstreaming Vista.

It appears Mark that Microsoft have made it more difficult to slipstream SP1
to Vista than previous versions of Windows. I know when I saw the
instructions for slipstreaming my first thought was 'this will certainly put
people off' it is a hell of a lot of work.

Hi,

So thats mean if I just have to wait until Microsoft to put back the Index
back? Btw, is it legal to slipstream SP1 into the original retail
installation DVD?

Thanks and Regards,
Stephen Saw

It would be legal if it were possible but it isn't. The Vista DVD isn't
constructed the same way as previous OS's.

Can you give me a link to the article? I'm just curious...

Thanks, Wolfgang.

Easiest way will be to buy an SP1 Anytime Upgrade DVD for a few
dollars/pounds/Euros, once the discs are available. These discs are
identical to Retail/generic OEM media.
Any idea when this will be by the way? Presumably once new PCs have SP1
pre- installed, as it's not possible to upgrade to a non-SP1 version if SP1
is installed?
