Vista Resista Me Again

I want and need to see the file name extensions,
How do I make Windows Explorer show them?

Program.exe shows as Program
I want to see the .exe

It is my PC so let me do what I want to do!

Control Panel
Folder Options
'View' tab
Uncheck the box 'hide extensions for known file types'
Apply

Start > Help and Support > type in file extension and hit Enter [or and
click the magnifying glass icon] > click on the relevant title returned, in
this case "Show or hide file name extentions" > read the help that comes
with Windows and take note of what it instructs you to do > click the X at
the upper right to close Windows Help and Support.

You've already been told how to do this, but I'll just add a couple of
comments.

1. This works exactly the same way it did in Windows XP. The default
is to hide extensions for known file types, but it's very easy to
change it to show them.

2. I think the default is a terrible one, and I think extensions
should *always* be shown. I feel so strongly about this that I think
there shouldn't even be an option to hide them. Hiding them often gets
people into trouble, because they don't understand what file it is
they are deleting, opening, or whatever.

Research shows that file extensions confuse computer users .. duh .. vapour
... you should already be blitheringly unaware of this.

Look, if you don't like Vista, use something else. Stop cluttering this group
with your inane rants.

This is nothing to do with Vista. Windows hides file extensions by default,
and has done since Windows 95.

I have another idea.. you should stop using vista so you can stop coming
here... so you wont need to see my rants!

Good grief... Vista sucks... if you like it.. well guess what? You are
stupid (TM)

I use this group for contructive purposes. You are an imbecile with nothing
better to do that rant on about something you know little about.
