I was having a bit of fun :)

I hope your operation goes well and you have a speedy recovery. You will be
missed here, but hopefully not for long. While I don't always agree with
your point of view I appreciate your integrity.

Thanks,

Alias

I like Windows 3.1 and 3.11(?) :)

It has been a long time for me not to have WOW for its products. SQL 2005
is a good product though. Maybe the last WOW for me.

Honestly speaking, I disagree with the majority for MS has to be responsible
for all the security issues. You simply can't fight by yourself against all
those hackers who are determined to break into your system. For security
issue, everyone has to be involved so I don't blame it, and of course, it
should do its fair share of work.

A security software (firewall and anti-virus), unfortunately, is a must for
today's computer user. However, it makes more sense for MS to work with
security vendors and provide some kind of co-op offer to user, instead of
jumping in to provide its own solutions.

Again, back to business 101 - focus. Let security vendors do their best and
let OS companies do their best.

And I STRONGLY disagree with it for putting tremendous efforts on WGA N and
SPP at the cost of taking off several major improvements.

Vista is not bad but it is not good enough. And it certainly can't be the
work from the LARGEST software company spent 5 years and even with so many
volunteers for helping to test it (myself excluded), unless the first 4
years was on vocation.

By the way, come back soon :)

Best of wishes and Happy Thanksgiving.

PS: I like Bala very much. Did I spell it right? Rice with seafood.

Thank you Kerry for being flexible... I dont want everyone to agree with me,
but at least show some flexibility...

Some mvps in here call Troll Troll whenever someone says something that is
against vista...

I might be wrong about vista, and it may indeed be a needed replacement for
the new generations of computers that will come out with multiple CPU cores
and ram that is far more than the 4 that XP (some versions) can handle.

Hey If I had a 28 core 32 Gb ram machine in 3 years, I would install vista
on it.. heck I wouldnt care about slow downs.. lol they would have vanished.

Furthermore there might be some third party apps that will come up to fix up
the GUI a bit to each persons taste, and do some other modifications so it
wont be too bad...

Windowblinds has the ver 5.5 beta for vista out, and I have seen some other
tweakers
that can do some nice tricks....

Paella is the correct spelling and I live in Valencia, the capital of
Paella and where it was invented. The best is with lobster ;-)

LOL.

But I think XP Pro is good though. I had a copy of Plus as well but
misplaced.

I'll keep my XP Pros and Homes. I just may find myself booting into
Ubuntu instead of XP after awhile. If I were to stay with Windows, XP
Pro meets all my needs and I see no reason to spend 700 US dollars on
Ultimate, the minimum price we will have to pay in Spain for retail,
probably more.

Sorry and I envy you.

I wish I could visit your hometown someday, having Paella with a glass of
white wine (actually, more than a glass, LOL) - like in paradise :)

Take care.

I'm originally from the States. I moved to Spain 16 years ago and love it.

If Mandrake 2007 is 100 times better than Ubuntu, the fact that Microfox
is using OE6 (and XP presumably) to post messages here, suggests that
Microfox considers OE and XP to be better than Mandrake 2007.. not
looking good for Ubuntu at all, is it..

You people are high! If humankind could survive on principle alone, it
would be wonderful. Wonderful, but not realistic. Practicality demands
at times we must be forced to use inferior products like Windows.

I'm not in the market for a new computer and I haven't fully
transitioned to Ubuntu yet. I'm not retired with time on my hands. I
have a business to run and I am still using Windows to do it until I
learn the ins and outs of Linux. Next week I have an operation. December
is a very slow time for my business and I'll be able to learn Ubuntu
while I am recuperating.

Hi Alias.

There are so many different flavors of linux, and all have their good
points and bad. My fav is Fedora Core. All the more power to you in
your plans to use Ubuntu. Hope your operation goes well.

Well, I happen to have the CD they were so nice to see me, free, all the
way to Spain and I've played with it a little bit so I guess I'll start
with Ubuntu. This is not to say that I won't explore the other flavors
but, so far, Ubuntu's pretty cool and seems to be a good thing for me to
start off with.
Hope your operation goes well.

Thanks, me too :)

Just try getting that kind of service from MS! LOL :)
