Vista Reinstalled but have duplicate program files

I did a reinstall to get rid of some program files that I think were created
when I did an "easy transfer" from my XP machine to a brand new computer with
Vista Installed. I ended up with some duplicated program files. I tried to
manually delete these files, but the system would not allow me to delete all
of them. I then tried to do a clean install of Vista, it was supposed to
overwrite all my files, but low an behold the files are still there! The
dates on the files are 11/6/2006! I have two "Program Files" folders, a
"windows" folder and a "window.vista folder". Supposedly this brand new
computer never had XP on it. What can I do to get rid of these files? Could
they have transfer in Easy Transfer? I would like to have a clean start!

To do a clean install of vista: set your BIOS to boot from CD/DVD drive.
Insert Vista DVD in Drive, reboot, load files, delete existing partition,
format, install.

Dear Mick:
When I reinstalled, I did reinstall by booting down and inserting the
Vista DVD. I clicked a key to boot from disk, loaded the files and then
chose the option to overwrite all my existing files and programs. Could you
possible give me the steps and what options to choose in order to delete the
existing partition, format and install? I must be doing something wrong
here. Please let me know the step by step process with what options to
choose. I hate to be a pain, but I have never done this before and I want to
make sure I do this correctly. Thanks for your help!

Dear Mick:
Thank you very much, this worked like a charm. All duplicate files are
now gone and everything is running fine.
