Vista RC1 Shows as Beta 2 After Install

I downloaded the RC1 X64 file from the Microsoft download site and installed
it. However, after the installation it shows up as Beta 2 build 5384 in the
bottom right hand side of the screen.
Is this correct or have I got the wrong download file?

When you click on the Start Orb and type "winver" what does it tell you?

If that is the build number appearing in the lower left corner you def do
not have RC1 - it is build 5600.

It shows "Version 6.0 (build 5384.winmain_Beta2.060518-1455).

It looks like it is definitely the old version but it is supposed to be RC1.
I downloaded it from the official Microsoft site that was sent to me. I
have had another look the file on the download site and it is identical to
the one I downloaded.
I don't know what to do now or where to get the RC1 version on Vista X64.
Is there a way of checking with Microsoft to update the download site?

Did you also download Beta 2 previously? If so, what might have happened is
that you burned the wrong iso. It seems that if you download from Xp there
is no problems but downloading from Vista sometimes hides the file. Do a
search for the RC1.
Beta 2 was larger than RC1. Vista x64 Beta 2 was 4.01 GB. I don't know the
size of the RC1.

Start by eliminating the obvious: are you sure you used RC1? I mean, it
could be that you have both files on your computer and/or both DVD's, and
you may have inadvertently confused them. Are you sure it actually
installed, and didn't run into a problem while you weren't watching,
consequently reverting (rolling) back to the former O/S?

Solved it now thanks. Don't know exactly waht is was but on the third burn
of the ISO it definitely has the RC1 version. I was careful not to confuse
an earlier download but I suppose I could have. I rather think though, that
Nero may have done something unexpected on me.
Anyway, thanks for the help

Glad it worked out!
