Vista RC1 expiration!

Hi,

I have just been told I am to start university and so have bought a laptop
to help me along the way. As with most user ready PC's that you buy straight
off the shelf it doesn't come with an XP disc. Now if I was to install Vista
RC1 onto my laptop how would I go about getting XP back onto my computer
without having to buy it all over again or paying for the no doubt expensive
brand-new Vista once Vista RC1 expires?
It seems unfair that a person would help microsoft identify issues with
their software and all they got in return was either a laptop they can no
longer use or a huge spend out on an operating system disc.

don't bother to help microsoft identify issues if you feel that it is unfair

ms already have plenty of testers

beta testers test software for the benefit of the users and do not expect
anything from ms although ms do give away something

See your later post. If you don't want to try out Vista, then don't. And
Vista should only be put on a test machine, not a production unit.

Read the user manual. Usually it will tell you how to make the restore disk
so that you can go back to XP. If it doesn't then you are SOL and you should
email the manufacturer to complain about not receiving a disk with your pc.

Personally, I feel that OEM's should be required to provide a cd that is an
exact replica of a retail XP disk, and keep all of their drivers and bundled
crap software on another disk or disks.
