Vista Premium - Can't see or ping local computers

Hi,

I have installed Vista Premium, and it is configured to be on a
workgroup named "MISNET", which is the same workgroup as my other
machines (mix of Win2K and WinXP machines).

When I first installed Vista, I could see the other computers under
"Network", but I can no longer see them or ping any of them.

I've disabled the Firewall, and I've also enabled "NetBIOS over TCP",
but even after reboot, I get the same result.

I've also set the Gateway under TCP/IP to 192.168.0.1, which is my
router address, and I've disabled IPv6.

I can ping external addresses like www.google.com, but can't seem to
access any of the machines on my own network at all :(.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to enable this?

Thanks,
Jim

Hi,

I'm not sure which particular thing I did as mentioned below, but I just
rebooted the machine again, and I can not ping and see the local machines!!!

Hi,

After rebooting again, I can't ping local computers or see them under
"Network" anymore. I checked the settings I did before, and some of
them (e.g., the Gateway) were reset (i.e., they didn't stick), so I set
them again, but setting them again and rebooting (even though they're
now sticking) doesn't resolve the problem (can't ping or see local
computers).

I can still ping and access machines outside my local network).

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Jim
