Vista Phone Dialer can't dial phone rules correct

In my area we must dial the area code. I have the rule set correctly, but it
takes the number say 301-555-1234 and tries to dial it as 1 3 555-1234,
instead of 3015551234. Notice problem in beta, but was not fixed in final
version. If I try to dial a long distant call, ie 703-555-1234, it does the
same thing 1 7 555-1234, instead of 17035551234.

Check your tone/pulse settings under properties. The wrong setting
will cause this problem. Have a great day.

It is set Tone, which is the currect setting. The problem it hoses the phone
number. I can use the dialer from windows 98/Me under vista and it dials the
number correct, but the one supplied with vista chops the area code as
described above.

The reason that I mentioned the tone/pulse switch is that the way
you explained it looked like a pulse dial. As a test switch to pulse try to
dial, then switch back to tone try to dial because the switch may be reading
wrong. I haven't seen it with Vista yet but had it happen on 2 or 3 XP
installations. I use the fax function through a modem without problems in
Vista but I have to remember to only type in 11 digits without dashes or
spaces.

I have 2 computers, Vista Home Edition 32 and the other 64 bit, and both
dialers are doing exactly as you describe. I bought an application that
uses the Vista dialer and need to make it work. Thanks,
