It's not a prudent idea to place backups on the same drive.
What if your hard drive should fail? It would be best to
invest in an external drive for backups.
How large is your D: partition? If it is very small I would venture a guess
that it is your system recovery partition - supplied by the computer
manufacturer. If so, you will not be wanting to touch that partition in any
way what-so-ever.
