Vista or WMP11 won't play AVI videos

Either Vista or WMP11 won't play AVI videos (sound but no video) - one of
which worked fine on my
WinXP/Wmp10 setup?

Have I got a missing codec? - if so which one?

I tried GSpot - but that reports no video & no results

I installed divx codecs - it works now but all the icons have been changed
to homer simpson

is this professional software or have i just installed malware?

there is absolutly no homer simpson icons in the software I told you!

I have been using them for years.. and they are 100% legit.

something is strange that is going on with your machine .. but its NOT those
codecs..

I suggest you re-accosiate all the WMP avi files with WMP11
