Vista Network issues Between Two computers

I have a laptop and a Desktop and am trying to set-up a network.. They are
connected through a router. Before Vista I was able to make it work fine
through XP. However it doesn't seem to matter that all my network settings
are the same, They will not give me access to the other. I have tried
everything I can think of. The funny thing is that I can share my printer
easily. I only have one login name for both computers, bot running Vista and
have the same network settings. Please help!
