Hi,
I have been using MS-Calculator Plus for a long time with Win XP already : a
wonderfull thing.
Now that I have moved to Vista, I have a problem with it : it starts up sooo
sloowly.
It was lightning fast on XP, now it takes ages to show up when I start it in
Vista.

Any solutions to that please ?

Regards
Geo

Have you contacted the Developer about support for Windows Vista? Sounds
like a compatibility issue.

Have you tried Compatibility Mode?

Hi Andre,

The developer is Microsoft.
Have you ever managed to get an answer directly from them ?
I didn't, that is why I try to find solutions in forums like this one :-))

Yes I did ss, it did not change a thing.
It just take a light-year to strart (or at least to show on the screen).

If I remember correctly, this is one of the programs that the Vista Upgrade Advisor
flagged as being incompatible with Vista.

That might explain this strange behavior Call.
Could you give me a hint where to find that Vista Upgrade Advisor please ?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Cal,

I have downloaded and installed the Vista Upgrade Advisor.
Guess what - it does not find anything on my puter that is incompatible with
Vista.

Are you running the advisor on Vista or XP?

Geo, I have calc plus right now on a vista virtual machine and it works fine
as you can see here:
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/9673/screenshot1jj7.png

Of course the virtual machine does not have AERO GLASS, only aero
standard....

The setting with the skin works too, but I like the classic view of this
calc. since purple isnt really my color.. lol

Perhaps you can try turning off its skin from within calc= VIEW>CLASSIC VIEW

There is a catch though... I never install this application since, I have
unpacked the installer once and from that point I used the EXE as a stand
alone application. Perhaps this is the key for yours to work too?

I just uploaded here the .exe without the installer, for you so you can
try...

If this still doesnt help see if in the compatibility mode, disabling the
themes will help.

Tell me if this helps...

Thanks you so much for trying to help me out Kirk Jim.
And sorry for coming back to you so late (I have been a bit busy lately).

I am afraid that the calcplus.zip file that you posted for me has gone,I am
told that it has been deleted by the uploader or the administrator.
May I ask you to give it another try ? or do you have another suggestion
perhaps ?

Thanks a lot in advance.
Oh and btw, I also used the classic view.

Regards
Geo

Hello again,

Download went OK.
The CalcPlus exe file works OK too.
I think that there must be something in the Msi file that is not much
appreciated by Vista.
Anyhow, it looks like my problem is solved and I am very grateful for what
you did to make that happen.
Thank you so much Kirk Jim.

No problem.. glad to help

I am afraid that I have been happy too fast Kirk Jim.
After a couple of times, CalcPlus takes again about 45 sec to load.
I really have no clue what the problem with this beauty may be.

i had a similar problem with yahoo antispy. it once took a grand total of 5
hours to open. the pc was fine and working and it was listed in task manager
but just didnt open until 5 hours later. very odd. other times it opens
immediately.
