Vista MP3 do not play

Media player will play videos but not mp3's. Can get mp3's to play in Winamp.
In Media Player, it stops after about 2 seconds with no sound. And sometimes
all sound from that point forward stops unless I reboot.

I am assuming you mean that your media player will not do this.
Mine does just so you know it's not a bug or a problem with WMP.

My MP3s play fine in WMP 11.

not much help just an observation.

I have no problem playing MP3's in MC or WMP with Vista. Did you upgrade to
Vista or was it a clean install? If you upgraded there could be some old
..dll's or something clogging the pipes.

I did an upgrade from XP Pro. I wish I knew which files were affecting this.

I found the same with a clean install.

Mine doesn't work either. It did for a while. It just quit one day
somewhere back there.

I have a new, clean install and Media Player will not lay MP3's. All other
computer sounds are fine.
Othere player programs work fine.
