When running media centre and listening to music there an option to run a
slideshow.
How can i control where it gets it's pictures from?
I'm tired of looking at various buttons and banners from assorted software
apps, visited websites etc and maps of europe from my tomtom backup.

I tried changing the stetting in the Library option to no avail - even with
no directories set to watch, it still pulls in picture files from random
locations - is there any way of controlling where media centre gets it's
pictures from.
I have a single directory with all my photos - how can i get it just to use
this directory?

thanks in advance
Pete

Has your slide show ever worked properly? Reason I'm asking is maybe some of
your system files (MC files included) have been damaged.

Here's how MC slide show works with music:
- First, play your music in Music
-Then go to Picture Library, select Folder of your choice, Play Slide Show.

Now you have a picture slide show and music.

Thanks Oscar

Whilst a track is playing, there are options on the left -
View Queue
Visualisations
Play Slide Show
Shuffle
etc...

If I choose Play Slide Show it just seems to pick up any .jpg file from
anywhere on my PC - of which there are vast amounts of 'stuff' from websites
(temp internet files), loads of maps from my tomtom backup etc etc

Is there some way of telling MC which locations it should play a slide-show
from.
I would have thought the Library set-up was the obvious place, but it would
appear not......

I know what you suggest does work, but i'd rather not have to search for a
specific directory buried deep in my disk each time.

Thanks again

Hi,

I hope I didn't sound flippant in my first post.

MS has a new troubleshooting/solution term. It's called "work around." I've
found that sometimes it's just quicker to use the "work around" than trying
to program what MS should've done in the first place. My last resort is
always going into the OS (regedit) or Program Files.

Anyways, I thought that you had tried what I had suggested and that didn't
work, so I thought maybe some of your files were damaged.

But it sounds like you're on top of it and have discovered what many of us
have: the slide show in Music MC is silly. It appears that it seeks any photo
files that are in the MC Library which would be in my case C:/User/name.
That's a lot of random images on my computer.

If I find a fix, I'll post it.

Cheers

Not flippant at all my friend - I'm always appreciative of help.

I had a feeling it may be 'just the way it is' - along the same lines as not
having a UK spellchecker for Live Mail (unless you know what to edit!)

The joys of Windows.......

Thanks and best wishes

This should help Pete.

Open MC
Play desired music
Start Slideshow
Right-click on a picture
Select Settings
Select Folder to View.
Make changes and save.
Cheers,

Greetings-

I performed these actions:

1) Run Setup again. (Hoping this would refresh any internal system file
settings that we, the user, have no easy access.)
2) Checked to see that No folders were added to the Library. According to
MS, WMC looks into Pictures, Music and Video folders for media unless the
user adds folders in the Library settings.

…apparently not. WMC is still looking into other document folders and
displaying gifs in the Music Slide Show that are not located in Pictures,
Music or Video.

So, for now, here’s another “work aroundâ€:
-Music Library
-select and play music files
-select Slide Show
-right click on first photo that you know resides in Picture folder. Select
Picture Details. Select Play Slide Show option in Picture Details.
-Slide Show now selects photo from the folder location of the first photo
that you right clicked on (which hopefully is the Picture folder).

This has been working nicely for me all day.

Anybody else have a solution or is this a WMC bug?

Hi Cado / Oscar

I tried, but didn't seem to work for me..
I done as you suggested and got as far as Settings, then I get the settings
options -

General
TV
Pictures
Music
DVD
Extender
Library Setup

The only place to choose a folder is in the Library Setup
I had no folders that were being 'watched' so added the folder with all my
photos in, made no difference - still pulls up pictures from all over the
disk

Hey ho....
Thanks again
Pete
