My HD crapped out on me. I recovered what appears to be all my stuff however
not the file structure. So I have around 600 folders with my entire system on
it. I got a new HD and put on Vista (Ultimate). I did a search and found my
contacts. I copied them into my contact folder on the new system however
Vista gives me an unknown error message.

email and contacts you think would be a rather simple task to copy and they
work however
From all the bloat I have searched through I believe there is some kind of
file (XML'ish) that needs to be associated or something. Anyone know how to
import contacts, email, folders from one Vista to another ? or maybe one user
to another ? Better yet why cant I just drop in the contacts in a folder and
they work ?

thanks in advance for any help on this problem

Copy the contents of this folder
C:\Users\<you>\Contacts to the appropriate folder on your new drive.

Or, each contact os a separate file with a name like
Frank Saunders.contact
or
Mary.contact

I doid that but it doesn't recongnize them?

it throws the MS catch all -
"an unknown error occured while trying to open this contact"

??

I'm afraid I don'r know. Sorry.
