Vista Logon - No Cursor, Why?

M

My wife and I have almost identical laptops running Vista Home Premium. Each
laptop has a User account and an Admin account. When I boot up and click the
account I wish to logon to the cursor is blinking in the Password box. When
my wife boots her laptop and clicks the account she wishes to use, NO CURSOR
blinking. It takes an extra click to put the cursor in the password box to
enter the password.

Why? How to get the cursor to automatically be in the password box to enter
the password?

Probably just latency. First click either wakes the machine
up, or the OS is still waiting for input from a boot device.

IIRC, you shouldn't need to click it at all. Just move the mouse to
the location and the cursor should magically appear.

Might have to do with power settings and the mouse waking the
machine. But I used to get it with my machine, and don't
anymore, since I added an additional user. The first click there
selects the user, then I can type the password in. But, Mine is regular
home system. Do you have more than one user. Does she?

Hope this helps.
