Vista installation can't allocate drive letter

I am running a clean install of Vista, but which ever drive and partition I
select Vista reports that it cannot allocate a drive letter. Any ideas?

Hi Steven,

Try deleting and recreating the destination install partition (note that
doing so will remove any information that currently resides on that volume).
