I purchased the CD from Microsoft and recieved the 64 and 32 bit versions. I
checked for compatiblity for my system and passed with flying colors, but
when I tried to load the 64 bit version, it says E is not a valid win 32
application, so I tried the 32 bit version and it first loaded the other day
and said my system was not compatible, so I upgraded my memory to 2 gigs and
tried it, now it loads, but gets stuck on please wait while installing and I
have to reboot to get it off my screen. Is it a bad disk? Or is there other
issues with my system?

You cannot install the x64 version from the XP 32bit desktop. You must boot
the system with the dvd to install Vista x64.
