I've installed Vista RC1 on a separate partition. When I boot I'm asked if I
want to load Vista or my previous version of windows. This is great as I can
play with vista without disturbing XP.

After using it for a while I'm discovering many incompatibilities. WMP
won't play divx files, mpc won't play at all. DesktopSidebar won't install.
Vista won't allow AVG anti virus to load on startup, et al.

What is the best way to delete vista? Just remove the partition? If I do
that won't it keep asking me on bootup if I want to load vista or a previous
version?

Thanks for your help.

Download and install this program,

VistaBootPRO 2.1
http://www.vistabootpro.org/

Once it's installed, run the program and click on the
Bootloader button
in the left hand column.
Select "Uninstall the Vista boot loader" in the right hand
pane.
Hit the "Configure It" button.
Click OK when asked to uninstall the boot loader.
Click OK on the next pop up.
You should now be able to boot directly into XP.

Good luck

Boot a WinXP CD and load the Recovery Console by hitting 'r' when first
prompted, run fixmbr, then fixboot. Exit and restart, it should load XP
directly (the XP bootloader won't load Vista). You can then format the
partition/volume that contains Vista from Windows Explorer.

EasyBCD can also be used to remove the Vista bootloader from within Vista or
from within XP. I don't recall if VistaBootPro can do the same thing, but
it may.
