Vista Home Premium 32 bit driving me crazy!!!

Couple of a"small" issues that drive me crazy

1. I have two printers and some external drives. Each requires a drive
letter. So I turn all on and assign my older Epson r300 drive letter E,
Newer Epson RX595 gets F, Flash drive 1 gets G and Flash drive 2 gets H.
Now, for a week or so...Vista remembers those letters and all is good. All
of a sudden...now, when I insert drives or turn on my printers...Vista
decides to assign new drive letters to each...mixing it all up and I have to
re-do again and again.

2. Control panel, itself, cannot remember settings. I set to classic view
with medium icons and Control panel resets and give me whatever it wants.

3. When I look at performance monitor, I notice that even though I have a
Core2Duo 2.66 GHZ processor...when I boot up...base line CPU usage is 52%.
On XP with slower processor (also Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHZ)...my CPU usage is 4%.
Vista is a memory PIG, major...and this is recent.

I have downloaded ALL OS updates to March 15...and have to say that Vista is
less and less imprressive all the time

I cannot get Vista to work with me. Been using since the day it came out
and it has never been as stable as XP, but lately...Vista is getting out of
hand. At this rate, I am considering formatting...installing XP and letting
the whole Vista experience go away. These issues are just the tip of the
iceberg....but I am becoming more and more weary all the time...VERY
DISATTISFIED!

Instead of the performance monitor, download and run Process Explorer.
Open it at startup and watch to see what exactly is using the processor
cycles. This can be a great aid in determining what it actually is that
you need to adjust. As a practical example, one of the XP systems I use
went to nearly 100% CPU usage for the first two or three minutes after every
reboot. Process Explorer told me that the process taking over was the DNS
client.
