Vista has wrong file associations

Ever since I updated to OO 3.0 on my Vista laptop, my odt files are
associated with Adober reader, which cannot open them. When I try to
change this, going through the normal motions which I am familar with
and choosing Oo Writer, the dialog window just keeps it on Adobe
Reader. I can still open these files after I've opened Writer, but I
would like to associate them. I checked for updated for both windows
and Oo but there are none. Is there a way to fix this, maybe tweak the
registry? This seems odd since I think odt files are the native format
for Oo Writer.

I had the same problem with .rb4 files from Resume Builder. It seems that
whenever Vista doesn't know what to do with an extension, it associates it
with Adobe.

I like to stay out of the registry whenever possible, so I uninstalled and
reinstalled Resume Builder. You might give that a try.

Since only OO is affected, try uninstalling/reinstalling it. You might want
to uninstall Adobe Reader before you reinstall OO and then install Reader
afterwards, too.
