Vista hardware

I downloaded the the vista compatibility check file to check my computer for
compatibility with the Vista OS. That programs starts and runs the scan but
never finishes. Is it possible that Vista 32 bit OS will not be compatible
with a 64 bit motherboard running a 32 bit processor?

Background: I upgraded a failed 32 bit ASUS motherboard to a 64 bit model
thinking I would eventually upgrade to a 64 bit processor. So now I have a
ASUS P5AD2-E-Premium 64 bit motherboard with an Intel 775 32 bit processor.
The motherboard claims to be 64 bit, compatible with both 64 bit
processors/operating systems and 32 bit processors/operating systems. At the
time the manual for the motherboard was written, Vista had not been released.

Hi Skip,

No reason I know of that the 32-bit version won't run on 64-bit hardware.
Just don't try to run x64 on a 32-bit system.

No problems that I can think of. Just make sure you can find drivers for your
hardware before you begin. Few things suck as much as getting a new OS
installed only to find your missing a driver for your NIC. At minimum image
your drive so you can easily restore it if things go sour, with betas count
on at least one thing not working as planned.
You won't be able to run the 64 bit version on your hardware unless you swap
processors. Again you'll need a set of drivers, this time the 64 bit versions.
