Don't feel bad about this. This shows that you have a greater understanding
than most of the ignorant users
who use something because they are told to by the system. Ignorant users are
in 2 categories:

-those who really don't know much and admit it
-those who think they know everything yet know absolutely nothing.

I am telling you this, and I am a person who always adopts the latest and
greatest... for example
if a program has an incremental update from 8.0.2.1 to 8.0.2.2 I download
and install the update.
In fact I always have the latest and greatest... in order for me to break
this habit, and not install the latest version,
it means that something is terribly wrong with it. And this is the case of
vista... Ok I have it installed as a secondary OS
but I don't use it for work.

You should select the best product... the best product is still XP and will
remain so until Microsoft
releases the next version of windows... but if they blunder on that one
too... there will be no more Microsoft...
at least for Operating systems.

Perhaps if enough people take vista back, MS will understand that they are
not serving the people in the best possible way,
and change their course of action.

Ummm...NO.

Not true in all cases. There is a 45 day return policy in North America.

Hi Brian--

It's unclear what you mean. Did you upgrade to Vista from a prior OS
perhaps XP? Did you purchase the upgrade from MSFT or an OEM?

I think this group could make any problems you are having with UAC
permissions or others in Vista very quickly.

I am not clear what you mean by MSFT letting you go back? You mean a
refund? They aren't going to do that.

Do you mean can you uninstall Vista from an upgrade? You are going to have
to format and install XP if that's the case.

Thanks to you and Jupiter for this. I didn't know there was a 45 day return
on retail buys in North America.

Correction. Now that I learned about the 45 day refund of retail buys in
NA, if you fall into that category get your money back. If not, and you have
the XP CD, simply pop it in and it will show you the HD install of Vista,
and give you the opportunity to format it and install XP.

I had a second thought on this.. you might want to keep vista until service
pack 1 comes out...

they may be working like crazy at redmond (microsoft) trying to finish
vista, the vista they did not have
time to finish properly when it was first released....
