Vista Folder "Access denied"

Jim

I just installed Vista Ultimate and have installed all updates so far.

While trying to move files from one partition (Xp) to the other partition
(Vista), I am not able to open the folder named "Documents and Settings" and
I get the message "Access Denied". I remember seeing this on a different
version of Windows quite some time ago but I forgot what caused it and what
I did to fix it.

So far, I've gone through all the settings for "Sharing" but that has not
been any help at all.

Does anyone know of a cause and fix for this? All help is appreciated.

Please respond directly to me, as well as the newsgroup. I'm so busy on this
computer, that I'm not sure when it will be before I can get back on and
check any answer anyone may post. Again, please respond to me directly so I
don't miss any possible answers.

Thanks,

Jim

Sorry, no free email support. Asked in the newsgroup, answered in the
newsgroup.

You can't open "Documents and Settings" on Vista because that isn't a
real location. It is a virtual location called a "junction" and is there
only for backwards compatibility with old software. You need to copy
files to C:\Users\your-user-name\Documents (or Downloads, or whatever
folder you like in your user directory).
